Notes: The site of the church is at the junction of two ancient roads of the Roman period. Since the manor was Saxon, it is possible that there was an early church here of wood before the 1280 stone church, which was renovated in the 1850s. In 1938 Mee described 'two magnificent old yews'. One is now lost, while the survivor grows SW of the church.
