Notes: Two yews are recorded here. The larger yew would have already been in situ when construction began on Barrow House in 1787. For years it has provided cover for a log store. The younger yew appears to be a managed garden tree. The Youth Hostel Association bought Barrow House in 1961, but from November 2011 the hostel became independent of the YHA, and in 2013 changed its name to the Derwentwater Independent Hostel.
