Notes: Tim Hills: A church was originally built here in the 12th century. There is no evidence of earlier Christian use of site. Male and female yews grow on the south side of the church, with a young yew on the northern boundary. Paul Wood September 2017: A little parish and fine example of the ebb and flow of fortune. The area round the church is a stereotypical medieval lay out centred around the church and has slowly become almost insignificant with new found prosperity from mining in the 18th and 19th centuries moving the centre of focus for the settlement a mile down the road. The churchyard and its yews are a wonderful little moment in time away from 21st century madness. The fantastic condition of the blocked up 12th century doorway is a fine example of past craftsmanship.
