Notes: On the south side of Chester is a track marked on maps as 'Chester Approach'. It used to be the private carriageway leading to Eaton House, the country seat of the Dukes of Grosvenor. Eaton House has an interesting history in its own right and the carriageway came to the end of its useful life when someone cut it in half with a four lane ringroad. Now it is a popular area to walk dogs. There is woodland either side of the track that to my eye looks planted rather than natural and features a number of very substantial oaks. The shape of the woodland appears not to have changed from that seen on an interwar OS map.
