Notes: In 1862 there were reported to be 33 yews here forming a double line surrounding the church. We counted 23, so many have been lost since that time. An early medieval origin is thought likely for this churchyard (CPAT). Garthbrengy's largest yews are recorded here. When visited in 1998 the church was closed and the roof was already beginning to look the worse for wear. I feared that the site could soon become overgrown. The church has since been sold and converted to a home. It would appear that trees 3 to 11, which includes 6 ancient specimens, are now in the garden of the owners on the north side of the church/house. The remaining trees are in the old graveyard, which is accessible to the public.
