Notes: The yew is found in Christchurch Park, now maintained by the borough council. The park was formerly the grounds of Christchurch Mansion, seen here, which was built in 1550 partly from the stone of the nearby abbey. The tree is at the bottom of the park near the town gate. It is thought possible that it was planted by a stream that used to run from springs and ponds further up the hill then down through the town. It could also be considered that it was planted as part of the landscaping that followed the building of Christchurch Mansion.
