Notes: This place is sometimes recorded as Upton Nervet. The present church was built in 1862, with nothing remaining of earlier buildings dating back to 1222. Both yews grow close to the south porch, the largest SE, the smaller SW. The 1923 History of the County of Berkshire has the following: 'A graveyard surrounds the church, between which and the rectory garden on the north side is a tall thick yew hedge; there is also a fine old yew to the south of the building.'
