Notes: The yew grows SW of the church. In Ramble XV from the Home Counties magazine of 1861 is the following description: 'A halt may be called here to inspect the small church, which has some interesting Norman remains, and also an ancient yew tree in the churchyard, which must have survived the storms of countless wild winters'. The drawing illustrates the article. The second picture is Saunders' sepia drawing of 1867, held by the Kent Archaeological Society, which clearly shows a large girthed tree with little foliage.
