Notes:A female yew with a girth of 25′ 5” (775cm) at about 1′, above roots. It presents an unusual face of a bole that seems to grow in the wrong direction. Apart from a small area it supports growth all around and thus has a massive presence. On the low side of the slope there is dead twiggy growth on the bole, as well as shattered and fallen branches lying below it.
There was a large space 6’/8′ up in the tree, but in such a remote location I was not tempted to climb. To the left is the most substantial mix of live and dead wood, all branches on this side seem to have twisted as if being wrung out. Dead, fallen branches lay all around the tree.
