1849: The yew is reported to have been ‘mentioned in Wilde’s History of the Boyne Valley’ (1849).
Between 2000 and 2005: A girth of 490cm (16′ 1”) at 30cm recorded by Aubrey Fennell.
2009: It is number 716 on the Tree Register of Ireland’s website, where it is described as ‘reputed to be 1000 years old but is probably 5-600 years’. That would seem a more reasonable estimate. Its girth of 512cm (16′ 9”) was recorded in 2009.
