Notes:

February 2003 – Tim Hills: The hollow space ‘contained much rubbish’ when recorded in 1954 (Swanton) with a girth of 12′ 3” (373cm) at 3′. Fifty years later in 2003 the problem has not gone away. I recorded a girth of 14′ 7” (444.5cm) at 2′.
November 2009 – Dave Kenny: The rubbish mentioned in the hollow has now been cleared away and there is a new-looking laminated sign pinnned inside the trunk saying ‘Please don’t put rubbish in here – I’m a tree not a bin’ !! Some slight elder and ivy encroachment, but otherwise looks fine. The tree measured 4.68m at 0.6m.
July 2012 – Peter Norton: A male yew with a girth of 15′ 2” (462cm) at 2′ over thin ivy. Hollow but no indication of internal growth. Signage in the hollow still there.
