Tree ID: 273
Yews recorded: Ancient 5m-7m
Tree girth: 605cm
Girth height: at the ground
Tree sex: female
Date of visit: 16-Aug-99
Source of earliest mention: 1970: Brecon Yew Survey
Notes:August 1999 – Tim Hills: West of the church are 4 trunks in a line. One has been removed, the 3 remaining are female. They appear joined and are possibly peripheral growth left after the collapse of an ancient tree.
2017 – Paul Wood: What was once four trunks has now become three as one has been chainsawed down to ground level. It was not clear why this was considered necessary. Two square holes a metre deep had been dug on the SE and SW sides of the tree at a distance of about five metres on both sides. The floor around the tree has become a cushion of ivy and was just encroaching onto the south side of the tree. Much ground disturbance ruled out making any assessment of lost or original tree remains. A measurement at ground level including the three living and the cut down trunk was 19′ 10” (605cm).
