Beckenham

There are many postcards from 1885 onwards, showing that the yew avenue leading from the lych gate to the south door was a mature feature long ago. These can be seen in ‘Beckenham’ by Inman and Tonkin, published by Phillimore in 1993. In 2008, nineteen yew trees of varying size were counted in this churchyard, all reported to be in good condition. The largest, which grows on the north side of the church, divides into six trunks a metre above the ground.
