Notes:

Known locally as ‘Cromwell’s Yew’. Local folklore records that Oliver Cromwell reputedly breakfasted in the shade of the tree soon after the battle of Newbury. A similar piece of folklore makes the same claim but says that it was after the battle of Roundway Down.
