April 2002 – Tim Hills: This was a ‘stupendous yew which John Evelyn (Sylva 1664) described as being 58 feet in circumference’. In 1897 Rev J.T.Pearce told Lowe ‘I cannot find any vestige of it left, nor any remembrance of this tree amongst any old people living in the parish or neighbourhood’.
