Yews recorded: Ancient 5m-7m

Tree girth: 630cm

Girth height: at the ground

Tree sex: female

Date of visit: 2-Apr-99

Source of earliest mention: 1832: The year book of daily recreation and information by William Hone

Notes:

April 1999 – Tim Hills: It is unfortunate that shed and oil tank are placed so close to the tree. Large pieces of the original trunk are still to be seen, also much crumbling heartwood. Girth was 20′ 8” (630cm) at the ground – somewhat exaggerated by bristly growth.
September 2009 – Ian Robert Brown: Ancient female tree with a shaggy appearance. Adventitious growth around the base of the trunk. Core of the tree has some dead heartwood which has some internal roots breaking through. New sapwood being laid down in various places over the old boughs and new branches growing all about the tree. Overall the tree looks in good condition.
