Brockhampton - by - Ross

Tree ID: 303

Yews recorded: Ancient 5m-7m

Tree girth: 594cm

Girth height: at the ground

Tree sex: male

Date of visit: 25-Mar-99

Source of earliest mention: 1882: History and Antiquities of Hereford - John Duncumb

Notes:

March 1999 Tim Hills: The hollow shell is blackened by smoke or fire. It still has the strength in growth to push down the wall and it is to be hoped that those in charge of rebuilding find a solution without causing damage to an ancient tree. Girth 19′ 6” (594cm) at the ground.
2007 – Tim Hills: The undergrowth around the tree has been cleared and a shed now occupies part of the space. The site owners were asked to contact the Ancient Yew Group to establish who is now responsible for the yew, but did not respond.
