Notes:Here is an ancient male tree. Low growth made it difficult to measure but 26′ seemed reasonable. Around the edge of this massive bole many new thin branches grow upwards from near the base of the tree. One hole shows that there are hollow spaces in the tree. Several thick branches facing away from the church were removed decades or possibly even centuries ago. On some of the branches that stretch out at right angles from the tree are the small upright twigs more frequently seen on woodland yews.
