Notes:This yew poses many questions. Did it start life in a more sheltered environment, surrounded by the trees of Buckholt Forest, to be left standing once the forest was reduced? Is it more than one tree? Why did the farmer choose to leave it in the middle of a field when buffalo grazed the area, so that a fence had to be built around it? How long has the tree been growing in this exposed situation, giving it the appearance of the sort of yew more commonly found in an upland setting?
