Bryngwyn - Rhosgoch Lane

Tree ID: 4897

Yews recorded: Notable

Tree girth: 378cm

Girth height: at the ground

Tree sex: male

Date of visit: 1-Apr-16

Source of earliest mention: 2016: Paul Wood

Notes:

The land is quite boggy and the trees have been well fenced off from horses using the field on the west side of the yews. Both trees had abundant pollen sacs though two branches on the larger tree on the north side appeared free of pollen. Of the two yews the smaller is the most southerly of the pair. It is a squat tree that has been much reduced in the past to remove branches overhanging the field. It also had very yellow foliage. A girth of 12′ 5” (3.78m) at the ground was recorded. The branches are regularly trimmed and the bole was solid. The more northerly of the pair, also solid, could not be measured but was visibly much larger, estimated as at least 16′. In the photos the larger yew is seen in 1 and 2 and the smaller yew in 3.
