Buckland Monachorum

The yew was described in Baxter’s The Eternal Yew as a particularly fine Yew tree in the churchyard near to the entrance: ‘the rifle-straight growth style of this Yew, with its attractive narrow fluted trunk must have received an approving glance from Sir Francis, who frequently worshipped there’. In 2008 the fine trunk has become ivy covered. Whether it is indeed 500+ years old is questionable.
