Tree ID: 307
Yews recorded: Ancient 5m-7m
Tree girth: 589cm
Girth height: at the ground
Tree sex: female
Date of visit: 11-Oct-99
Source of earliest mention: 1939: The King's England - Arthur Mee
Notes:October 1999 – Tim Hills: The yew growing furthest from the church is on a particularly steep mound. Foliage is dense. Girth of 18′ 7” (566cm) at the ground was exaggerated by twiggy growth.
September 2015 – Paul Wood: The tree sits on the large mound, partly explained by the fact that churchyard soil is spread there whenever funerals leave excess soil from dug graves. Girth was recorded at the ground as 19′ 4” (589cm). Ivy on the tree was sparse, though there was much on the ground leading to the tree. The bole is fragmenting and new growth forming, giving the tree a gnarly appearance. At the time of the visit it was home to a nest of wasps.
