Notes:

In ‘A Short History of the Parish of Nantcwnlle’ by Rev. Evan Edwardes, 1930, the following is described: ‘There in one yew in this graveyard which has possibly challenged the storms for years and another which is not so old. After the church was renovated (1887) about a dozen yew trees and other arbor vitae were planted on either side of the path which leads from the gateway to the Church door’. Old photos of the church suggest that some of the trees leading from the gateway to the church were Irish Yews, though there are still young yews at the southern and northern perimeters of the churchyard. There is no trace of the yew which had ‘challenged the storms for years’.
