Tree ID: 1015
Yews recorded: Ancient 4m-5m
Tree girth: 485cm
Girth height: low on bole
Tree sex: female
Date of visit: 28-Mar-05
Source of earliest mention: 2004: Tree Hunting and Walking in North Somerset - John Shaw
Notes:Tree 2 on the plan, almost opposite tree 1 on the other side of the road. It is the only female of the 4 trees. A branch which would once have stretched over the path had been sawn off, long enough ago for new growth to surround most of the wound. Heartwood is beginning to rot inside the cavity. There are some deep clefts into the bole, which leads into a substantial central rising branch. Ivy has taken hold and fills much of the canopy. Girth with a horizontal tape and trying to obtain the lowest measurement at a low point on the bole was 15′ 10” (483cm) in 2005 and 15′ 11” (485cm) in 2011.
