Notes:September 2007 – Dave Martin: In 1876 two avenues of yew were recorded, the first of clipped yews leading ‘to the principal entrance, and farther east is a second avenue’. In 1956 a ‘double row of ancient yew trees’ was described, growing between the road and the south porch. It seems that the yews by the main entrance were removed early this century; two remaining stumps do not suggest they were of great age. Today there are only 4 young yews with average girths of 1.52cm .
