Clifford

Tree ID: 1967

Yews recorded: Notable

Tree girth: 381cm

Girth height: at 30cm

Tree sex: unspecified

Date of visit: 14-Jan-05

Source of earliest mention: 1866: Woolhope Papers

Notes:

January 2005 – Tim Hills: The largest remaining yew grows NW of the church. A girth of 12′ 8” (386cm) at 1′ was recorded.
April 2016 – Paul Wood: The yew growing northwest of the church has been managed extensively – perhaps a little too much. Twiggy growth where the tree bulges between 3′ and 5′ has been cut off close to the tree, while anything that starts to grow away from the tree appears to be removed. It gives the tree a top heavy appearance. Measured at a foot as previously a girth of 12′ 6” (3.81m) was recorded, slightly less than in 2005. A few water pockets were noted and a few dead smaller branches. No major areas of rot were noted.
