Yews recorded: Notable
Tree girth: 219cm
Girth height: No data
Tree sex: female
Date of visit: 17-Feb-03
Source of earliest mention: 1904: Woolhope Naturalists' Field Club Transactions
Notes:2016 Paul Wood: As well as the significant yews recorded at this site, I noted four further yews. None are of great size, though in a few hundred years from now have the potential to become veterans.
The 1st photo shows two young yews growing on either side of collapsed rubble near the southern tip of the site.
The 2nd photo is of a 5’/6′ girthed female yew on the southern tip of the cloister. It grows on top of building rubble showing that it came into existence long after the building went out of use.
The 3rd photo is of a tree little more than the size of a large bush which appears to have been dug up and placed here. It grows in a large clay/gravelly ball and has probably come from elsewhere on the farm.
