Tree ID: 1080
Yews recorded: Ancient 5m-7m
Tree girth: 620cm
Girth height: at 30cm
Tree sex: male
Date of visit: 10-May-02
Source of earliest mention: 1938: The King's England - Arthur Mee
Notes:1864 – Woolhope Papers: A girth of 15′ 9” (480cm) was recorded.
May 2002 – Tim Hills: The yew grows close to the perimeter wall. It has suffered severely from fires lit in its hollow. This has also damaged an internal stem which forms part of the main branch. Its hollow state was also noted at that time. I recorded a girth of 19′ 5” (592cm) at 1′ above the top of wall.
April 2017 – Paul Wood: The veteran yew was measured as before at 30cm (1′) above the churchyard wall on the south side of the tree and a girth of 20′ 4” (620cm) was recorded. The tree looked in great health with thick and plentiful foliage in the canopy, and the previous fire damage appears to be becoming less visible as the tree continues to grow over all parts.
