Notes:July 2011 – Tim Hills: The most significant churchyard yew is about to see better days. Damaging quantities of ivy have been cleared from the trunk and canopy and the tree again has a chance to flourish. If the level of the churchyard has been slowly raised over the centuries it is possible that the original trunk is now covered by feet of soil. What we see today is two distinct sides made up of several stems. The sawn off branch alone, with a girth of 2′ 8”, revealed more than 100 annual rings.
