Notes:

In A descriptive history of the town of Evesham by George May, written in 1845, he states that ‘In the burial ground, the ornamental pedestal of the Cross, remaining near the very ancient yew, deserves attention’. The yew pictured here grows in the only space available near to the cross, so we must assume that it is the tree described 166 years ago. While it does not have great girth, it is certainly an old tree with 4 major branches and a 5th removed. All of these grow around a bole with a hollow centre. The tree grows on a slight mound.
With a girth of under 4m the tree is presently classified as notable. Because it displays veteran characteristics it will in the future be classified as V-con (veteran on account of its condition).
