Tree ID: 2269
Yews recorded: Ancient 4m-5m
Tree girth: 429cm
Girth height: at the ground
Tree sex: unspecified
Date of visit: 15-Jul-06
Source of earliest mention: 2006: Correspondence with Ann Griffiths
Notes:Russell Cleaver – 2006: A fine yew, with a full crown and fluted trunk that tapers out from the base. In excellent condition. Girth 14′ 1” (429cm) at the ground.
Peter Norton – 2010: One large female yew grows in the northwest corner of the churchyard. It is a fine tree with a 5′ break of crown from which seven main branches spread out to form a crown that measured around 45′ in all directions. Girth measurements were hampered by thick ivy stems on the tree’s north side. An actual girth of 14′ 11″ (455cm) at the root crown probably exaggerates the true girth by several inches. A juvenile growing on the southwest perimeter may be a Millennium yew.
