Yews recorded: Ancient 5m-7m
Tree girth: 599cm
Girth height: not recorded
Tree sex: female
Date of visit: 26-Feb-99
Source of earliest mention: 1994: Gazetteer in The Sacred Yew
Notes:February 1999 – Tim Hills: A pair of female yews. Park at the church and walk back along the road towards the SE. The yew closest to the church is pictured here, a hollow tree with much decaying wood.
2008 Graham Bradshaw: The yew is split at the base, and the final photo, taken by holding the camera inside a small gap at the base of the tree and pointing it upwards, reveals the tree to be hollow. The tree itself is in the middle of a reasonably dense collection of trees, making it difficult to obtain a photo of the whole tree. The crown appears to be healthy, and the fresh leaves in the hollow would certainly indicate that the tree is still producing new growth.
