Yews recorded: Notable
Tree girth: No data
Girth height: not measured
Tree sex: female
Date of visit: 1-Dec-16
Source of earliest mention: 2016: Paul Wood
Notes:Is is possible that this female yew is contemporary with the original building of the house. The iron railings prevented measurement at its narrowest point at a height of about 3′, but 13′ 3” (4.04m) was recorded at 5′. The bole, which leans to the west away from the house, has a fluted and gnarly appearance. It rises to about 8′ before seven major limbs continue upwards at roughly 45 degree angles. Proximity to house and road means that the canopy is kept well cut back. The foliage was not particularly thick and had a yellow tinge, something I have observed on many yews in this locality. It was not possible to tell whether the tree was hollowing, though there are a few gaps out of the reach of examination.
