Kings Caple

Tree ID: 1923

Yews recorded: Notable

Tree girth: 356cm

Girth height: at 60cm

Tree sex: male

Date of visit: 30-Sep-04

Source of earliest mention: 1938: The King's England - Arthur Mee

Notes:

September 2004 – Tim Hills: An ivy covered male yew with a girth of 11′ 8” (356cm) at 2′.
2017 – Paul Wood: The yew grows about 8m north of yew 1. It is male and had a girth of 12′ 7” (3.84m) at 2′ over a covering of ivy, which has now become a serious threat to the tree and has choked major parts of the canopy and crown with more dead branches than live ones. Though some yew foliage was still visible it seemed that about 85% of the canopy is enveloped in thick ivy.
