July 2002 – Tim Hills: An inaccessible yew with girth probably in the range of 16’/20′. From a platform at about 5′ at least 8 large branches radiate outwards and upwards.
September 2005: Roadside tree, cannot measure. Heavily fenced plus dense regrowth. Male, no apparent rot, 5′ trunk then 10 – 12 branches support full, widespread crown. Girth estimated between 24′ and 26′.
300m east along same minor road in verge, another male, sound stem and lopsided crown to west. Girth 11′ 3” (3.43 at 1.0m).
April 2009 – Hugo Egleston: Tree measured with great difficulty as 20′ 10” just above the ground. About 15/20 years earlier before it grew its skirt of twiggy growth I recorded 24′ (732cm) between 3′ and 4′.
