Tree ID: 5202
Yews recorded: Notable
Tree girth: 379cm
Girth height: at 100cm
Tree sex: unspecified
Date of visit: 1-Sep-17
Source of earliest mention: 1897: The Yew-Trees of Great Britain and Ireland - John Lowe
Notes:September 2017 – Paul Wood: This yew grows about 10m west of the other recorded yew. It is tall, with many of its branches on the west side allowed to reach the ground, though none had yet taken root. It has a broad oval shaped bole to about 10′, where an explosion of branches radiate at all angles. Four feet above this the bole divides into two upright branches with many secondaries. Foliage on this tree seemed restricted to the ends of the branches which may be due to the shadowy dark area created by the surrounding trees. No rot or hollow areas were visible. Its smallest girth was 12′ 5” ((378cm) at 3′.
