Date of visit: 29-Aug-13
Source of earliest mention: 2000: Eglises en Val de Sienne - Jacky Brionne de Hambye
Notes:August 2013 – Wim Peeters: The ancient tree has a fragmented stem. At heights of 4m and 5m, two tension straps are laid around the fragmented stems to keep them together. Inside the stem internal roots are forming. The dense crown appears very healthy, with dark green needles, however, one of the larger branches has been broken. The tree would appear to have been much higher in the past.
September 2014 – Tim Hills : The sign reads that this yew was planted in the 12th century. It consists of two completely separated fragments, both leaning and held in place with cables. There were yellowing leaves throughout the tree, but with new green growth at the tips. The female yew was filled with thousands of arils. The fragment growing closest to the church was the largest and contained sapwood sections of the original trunk. It appeared to have been truncated at about 20′ and has been replaced with new branches. Girth around both fragments at 1′ was 25′ 3” (770cm) .
