Notes:

1892: A girth of 28′ at the ground line was recorded.
1958: Described by E.W. Swanton as having ‘much life in it’, it continues to grow with much vigour in its latest phase of regeneration.
January 1999 – Tim Hills: Two fragments inside 6′ high railings. An iron rod, clamped to the outside of each fragment prior to 1958, is intended to prevent further separation.
