Notes:

Most easterly of the pair, seen on the right in the photograph, has 3 main branches from close to the ground. The area around the tree was filled to a height of about 4′ with drying grasses.
In 1984 Reg Wheeler was able to record a girth of 476cm (15′ 7½”) at the ground.
