Llanfeugan - ancient

Tree ID: 101

Yews recorded: Ancient 5m-7m

Tree girth: 536cm

Girth height: at 90cm

Tree sex: female

Date of visit: 2-Jan-12

Source of earliest mention: 1995: Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust

Notes:

1998 – Tim Hills: Tree 6 on plan, west of the church. Split and leaning in a way which suggests inevitable separation. A girth of 16′ 8” (508cm) at 3′ was recorded. January 2012 – Tim Hills: Girth was 17′ 4” (528cm) at the same height. This rapid increase in girth is partly due to the two stems gradually separating. June 2016 – Paul Wood: An interesting hollow tree, very much a shell though with two well rooted internal stems. Foliage was sparse. Measured at 3′ as on previous occasions a girth of 17′ 7” (536cm) was recorded. The slight breeze was causing the tree to flex, perhaps suggesting gravity and the elements are slowly placing the tree at the point where it will need to be propped.
