Tim Hills: Tree 1 on the plan, east of the church. It is horse shoe shaped, consisting of a live and a dead section and has a large internal stem about 3′ in girth. The tree’s main central stem is hollowed out for a considerable height.
In 1999 girth was 17′ 9” (541cm) at 1′ measured above any jutting roots.
In 2004 girth was 17′ 5” (531cm) at 2′.
In 2012 girth was 18′ 3” (556cm) at 1′ and 17′ 5” (531cm) at 2′.
Paul Wood – 2016: The yew’s hollow centre shows through the gap on the east side of the tree. Some of the ivy beginning to cover the bole was removed. As with other yews in this area we noted a yellow tinge to the foliage. Girth was 18′ 1” (551cm) at 1′ and 17′ 5” (531cm) at 2′.
