Notes:Tree 5 on the plan grows on the north side of the path at the east entrance. Percival Morgan, who is thought to have visited between 1980 and 1990, recorded a girth of 25′ (762cm) at 4′ and described ‘4 large trunks’. He also noted that the ‘main trunk looks as though it has been completely broken off by the wind’.
In 1984 Reg Wheeler recorded a girth of 720cm (23′ 7½”) at 35cm, describing the tree as triple stemmed, but noted that measurements of all trees in this churchyard were likely to be exaggerated by ivy, elder and dead twigs.
