Tree ID: 5295
Yews recorded: Lost
Tree girth: 610cm
Girth height: No data
Tree sex: unspecified
Date of visit: 8-Apr-09
Source of earliest mention: 2009: Hugo Egleston
Notes:When I visited this area prior to 1990 I recorded a yew at SU538236 with a girth of 22′. Unable to find it in 2009 I assumed it had succumbed to the gales in 1990. Revisiting in March 2018 I found the remains of this tree at SU5383023694, just off the track on the west side, before the second gate off the road. There was little left to see, only very thin and decayed moss covered sections on the west side, which seem to have been cut off about 18” above the ground, and moss covered traces of root on the other side. It must have been extremely hollow and may have just collapsed over the track. I laid my tape on the ground and recorded a girth at its waist of about 20′.
