In his 1912 Byways in British Archaeology, Walter Johnson states that ‘Cedars occasionally replace the yew, for example in the churchyard of Lullingstone, Kent’. Robert Bevan-Jones in The Ancient Yew reports that ‘The ancient yew at Lullingstone in Kent has been replaced by a cedar’.
