Notes:1873 Hardwicke’s Science-Gossip: “One of the most massive and yet hollow yews that I know exists in Marden Churchyard, Herefordshire, having a seat around its interior where I reclined, and ten or twelve persons might have joined me, sitting rather close. This yew measures 30 feet in girth.”
On the Tree Register’s data base is an undated measurement of a ‘long lost tree with a diameter of 290 cm’.
2014 December -Tim Hills: No sign of remnants of the old yew. Two young yews growing SE of the church and close to each other had girths of 10′ 8” (325cm) and 11′ 1” (338cm), each measured at a height of 2′.
