Tree ID: 2288
Yews recorded: Ancient 4m-5m
Tree girth: 442cm
Girth height: at 5cm
Tree sex: male
Date of visit: 5-Aug-98
Source of earliest mention: 1849: A Topographical Dictionary of Wales
Notes:Tim Hills – August 1998: Tree 4 on the plan grows NE of the church. It has an elongated trunk with internal growth in centre.
In 2006 a girth of 14′ 6” (442cm) was recorded close to the ground.
By February 2014 this had increased to 14′ 11” (455cm). The possibility that this yew and tree 5 are well developed fragments of a once huge tree that would have filled the space between them is backed up by the pieces of stump highlighted in Paul Wood’s photos taken in 2017.
