Tree ID: 5497
Yews recorded: V - con
Tree girth: 378cm
Girth height: at 15cm
Tree sex: female
Date of visit: 27-Jun-16
Source of earliest mention: 2016: Andy McGeeney
Notes:September 2016 – Andy McGeeney: The yew looked healthy, with a balanced canopy growing from two separate stems that look to be the remains of a bigger single bole with significant pieces of old dead white wood remaining. Evidence of old dead ivy stems at the base suggested that ivy had been removed recently. There was one upright gravestone very close to the bole (30cm gap) and pieces of slate gravestone in the gap between gravestone and bole.
November 2016 – Tim Hills: Visited as part of the project to record all of Somerset’s churchyard yews, I recorded a girth of 12′ 5” (378cm) at 6” around both fragments.
With a girth of under 4m the tree has previously been classified as notable. Because it displays veteran characteristics it is now classified as V-con (veteran on account of its condition).
