Tree ID: 1206
Yews recorded: Ancient 4m-5m
Tree girth: 444.5cm
Girth height: at the ground
Tree sex: female
Date of visit: 16-Jul-02
Source of earliest mention: 1939: The King's England - Arthur Mee
Notes:July 2002 – Tim Hills: In 1979 half of the tree fell in a storm. Whether the weight of the concrete partially filling its hollow centre was a contributory factor will remain unknown. The argument to leave what remained of the tree was won and it has recovered. From a height of about 10′ there is an outpouring of branches. Girth of 14′ 7” (444.5cm) was recorded at the ground, or at 2′ where the land slopes away.
2022 – Earlier Fielding: Was surprised to find that presumably the prop has sometime recently failed and the limb that it held fallen off.
