Old Alresford

Tree ID: 981

Yews recorded: Ancient 5m-7m

Tree girth: 554cm

Girth height: at the ground

Tree sex: male

Date of visit: 1-Sep-99

Source of earliest mention: 1996: Toby Hindson

Notes:

September 1999 – Tim Hills: It is suggested that this is regrowth from an old stump. At the time of this visit 3′ of soil and stones were piled against its trunk and assessment was not possible. This had been cleared by 2003 and the numerous thin stems rising from around a 2′ platform in the centre would seem to confirm that this is stump regrowth. Girth was 18′ 2” (554cm) at the ground.
September 2005 – Russell Cleaver: Multi-stemmed tree on a rise in a large churchyard. Male, NE of church. Its girth may be large but the dozen or more stems are not ancient.
