Notes:February 2007 – Tim Hills: Most of the yews here are thought to be over 200 years old. The process of clipping these trees slows down girth increase considerably. A sample of fifteen of the older yews showed an average girth of only 3′ 9”. The illustrations show that many of the trunks do not have a complete circle of growth.
